Webinar: “It’s What’s Inside That Counts”

When:  May 27, 2021 from 01:00:00 PM to 02:00:00 PM (ET)

Laboratory Animal Science professionals across the globe know that successful research is dependent upon knowledge and precision. The more precise the knowledge the better, especially when it comes to rodent behavior and the microenvironment of the cage where visibility into specific conditions and animal activities can be especially difficult to obtain. Researchers seek this knowledge to minimize variables and manage risk and therefore produce greater and more reliable research outcomes.

This month, Allentown spotlights Unified Information Devices (UID)—a leading provider of RFID identification and data collection solutions—in a webinar focused on their home cage monitoring solution, Allentown’s Wi-Com InSight intra-cage monitoring solution, and other methodologies that can be used to obtain this valuable information.

PRESENTERS:

  • Matthew Ruiter, Chief Scientific Officer, Unified Information Devices (UID) Matthew Ruiter started his research career working in a contract research laboratory that specialized in CNS research and drug testing. He worked as lead surgeon and performed complex catheterizations and drug infusion studies on rodents, canines, and primates. In this position, Matt also served as Study Director and Chairman of the IACUC committee. After 8 years in that role, Matt took on a new challenge as Vice President for a medical device company that provided catheters, infusion pumps and software for laboratory research. In this position, Matthew traveled the world performing contract surgeries and teaching drug infusion procedures for all animal species. His extensive experience in these fields is what led him to where he now as CSO of UID, developing cutting-edge RFID data collection systems.
  • Steve Miller, Director of Engineering, Allentown, LL Steve Miller has been part of the Allentown team for over 19 years. During Steve’s years of service, he and his team have created software applications, electro-mechanical devices, and multi-species animal enclosures which have been instrumental in improving the research environment for our partners in the laboratory animal science community. Steve holds several patents and invention disclosures in the life science industry and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
